Die Heuwels Fantasties is an Afrikaans Alternative Pop Rock group. This ground-breaking group is considered to be the first successful Afrikaans electronic act. They are revered for their unique music and their energetic live performances and have gathered a large and wide fan base since their inception in 2008. Die Heuwels Fantasties has played at all the major festivals in South Africa and has shared the stage with notable international acts, including opening for Kings of Leon in 2012. They have also toured to the Netherlands, Belgium and UK in 2010. Die Heuwels Fantasties have won every notable award in South Africa for their music and music videos. Their first album, Die Heuwels Fantasties and their second album, Wilder as die Wildtuin, both reached Gold status in sales. Their third album, Alles wat Mal is, reached Gold within three months after its release in February 2013. In May 2013 they released a live DVD, Live of Paul Cluver, which captures the magic of their live performances. Die Heuwels Fantasties was formed in the beginning of 2008 when both Hunter Kennedy- and Pierre Greeff’s bands took a break. They formed their own record label, Supra Familias, at the same time. Hunter is currently also involved with Fokofpolisiekar and was involved with aKING and Pierre was in Lukraaketaar. The group describe their music as “melodic songs written on acoustic guitar, interpreted with electronic and organic instruments. You can call it pop.”
